She would have told him well before this if she was sleeping with him. <br /><br />So, this is somewhat a story about what happens to women in science--at least that little bit. You get along just fine with the guys until you do something stupidly female, like get pregnant. Then suddenly you turn into a mush-for-brains, no ambition, just a girl. After I told my advisor I was pregnant his demeanor to me completely changed and our relationship never really recovered. He gave lip service to me having family obligations, but it was rather clear he really expected me to be working just as hard or harder after a kid. Not the most motivating experience, in case you were wondering.
